Being a rideshare or delivery driver can be a fun way to earn money, but long gone are the days when drivers were making lots of it. Now you have to hustle and grind to make the kind of money that used to be possible on a part time basis. Here are some ways you can earn more money while driving the same amount.
1. Add a Carmacy Display Box to your car
This is one of the more flexible ways to give high-urgency products to your passengers during busy times when they need it! You can stock it with your own products or get the refills directly from Carmacy! Selling items like tampons, ibuprofen, and condoms is a fantastic revenue stream to add to your drives. On average, drivers earn $400 more per month while driving the same amount!
2. Rooftop ads/Car wraps
A hands-off way to earn more money and great visibility for the right advertiser. Even better if you can advertise your own business! There are many types of ads you can put on your car. Digital rooftop ads offer the most flexibility since the advertisers can simply upload new images to the display, while vinyl wraps can be a more cost effective solution for long-term partners.
3. Promote yourself
This is one of our favorite ways to earn more money while driving. We've seen everything from actors doing improv auditions in Los Angeles, to consultants offering introductory business advice, to jewelers showcasing the jewelry they make in their cars. If you don't have a business of your own, it can be very effective to carry a stack of resumes instead!
4. Drive for multiple apps at the same time.
If you're all about efficiency and the hustle, driving for multiple apps at the same time can be much more effective than working with one app alone. If you can plan your routes, it's possible to be making money almost continuously with no down time! You can switch between offering rides on Uber and Lyft to making deliveries with apps like Postmates or Grubhub.
5. Focus on customer service.
Some drivers make amazing tips by offering bottled water, chargers, and even karaoke in their vehicles. And for other types of passengers, maybe a silent ride is exactly what they need! This is one of the most direct ways of earning more while driving since the tipping function is built in to the rideshare apps, and often tips come as cash!
6. Use driver-friendly apps.
There are many apps that are helpful for rideshare drivers. Some of the most popular ones are Gridwise, Stride, and Surge Pricing. They can do everything from tracking mileage and expenses to locating the busiest parts of the city to drive!
7. Offer private rides to busy areas.
It makes a lot of sense (financially, and for the environment!) to offer a carpool ride from your area to the nearest big city. You can arrange regular daily trips for someone who would otherwise have to commute, and once you're there you can offer rides in the busier local area! In some cities where uber/lyft were banned, drivers can use facebook groups and arrange payment directly through Venmo or Paypal.
